The Boys is winning raves from all corners of the internet as the Amazon Prime superhero show continues to pick up fans. The brutal series hasn't been streaming long, but production on season 2 has already kicked off. And today, we get a first look as show runner Eric Kripke shares a tweet of the returning cast, several of which have been doused in blood. Kripke says this to go with the image.

"World's first pic of #Season2. As you can see, we're up to our old tricks."

Yes, it appears that The Boys and at least one of the girls are back up to their usual business. Season 2 of The Boys was confirmed before the first episodes even began streaming, which showed the confidence Amazon had in the drama even before anyone got a real good look at it. This sneak peek is just a small token of Kripke's appreciation, as shooting continues on Amazon's definitely R rated deconstruction on the superhero mythos.

The set image has Kripke standing in the middle of cast members that include Tomer Capon as Frenchie, Karen Fukuhara as The Female, Jack Quaid as Hughie, and Laz Alonso as Mother's Milk. The group are all giving the one finger salute in unison, keeping up with the nihilistic tone of the show. There are no details behind this scene being shot, or why they are all covered in blood. But it can't be good, judging from some of the more visceral elements witnessed in the first batch of episodes.

One member of the cast not shown is leading man Karl Urban, who plays Billy Butcher. Though, the shocking season 1 ending twist may be the reason for his absence. You'll have to dive in and watch if you want to know more. The Boys is based on the iconic comic book series by writer Garth Ennis and artist Darick Robertson. It gives superhero fans a world were these beings are real, and shows how corrupted they've become, and how they abuse their powers.

The main superhero group in the show is called The Seven, and they are led by Antony Starr as the brutal and sociopathic Homelander. The Boys are a special unit sent to right the wrongs of The Seven, but in season 1, that plan goes careening off the tracks. The show has become one of Amazon Prime's most watched original series two weeks after its premiere. Though there are no specific ratings stats.

In season 2, we'll get to see You're the Worst star Aya Cash suit up as Stormfront. The next few episodes will focus on that big season 1 twist ending. The cliffhanger will lead to some new developments amongst the superheroes. There will be some unexpected superhero cameos. And fans of the comic will get to see Billy's perverted dog Terror for at least one episode. You can take a look at the first image courtesy of Eric Kripke's Twitter
