Summary
Fused with camaraderie, faith and fury, Generation Kill brings a gritty, raw and brutally honest insider’s look at what has become of our contemporary American war. Based on the non-fiction book of the same name by Evan Wright, an embedded journalist working for Rolling Stone who rode alongside the Marines during the spring of 2003, the miniseries is executive produced and co-written by David Simon and Ed Burns, the creators of the award-winning HBO series The Wire. Using real events and real names, the miniseries employs much of the actual dialogue as reported by Evan Wright in his book. Generation Kill features a large ensemble cast that includes David Barrera, Josh Barrett, Wilson Bethel, Benjamin Busch, Nabil Elouahabi, Neal Jones, Chance Kelly, Michael Kelly, Eric Ladin, Jonah Lotan, Billy Lush, Kellan Lutz, J. Salomé Martinez, Marc Menchaca, Eric Nenninger, James Ransone, Alexander Skarsgard, Stark Sands, Pawel Szajda, Lee Tergesen, Rey Valentin, Brian Patrick Wade and Owain Yeoman. Eric Kocher, Jeffrey Carisalez and Rudy Reyes, Marines from the First Recon Battalion who were featured in the book, serve as advisors and are also cast members. Key military advisor Eric Kocher plays another Marine in the miniseries, while Rudy Reyes plays himself.
