Supernatural Season 8 Adds Liane Balaban

Liane Balaban joins the cast of Supernatural Season 8

The CW Network's Supernatural is giving one of the Winchester Brothers a new love interest this season. Actress Liane Balaban is joining the cast in Season 8 as a recurring guest star.

The actress will portray Amelia, a doctor with a "damaged soul" who becomes romantically involved with Sam Winchester (Jared Padalecki). The character is still trying to overcome a traumatic experience, although we eventually learn she is, "brave, sweet and sarcastic." It isn't known when the actress will make her debut in Season 8, or how many episodes she is slated to appear in.

We reported last month that the Season 8 Premiere will debut Wednesday, October 3 at 9 PM ET. Last season, the show aired Friday nights at 9 PM.

Supernatural will also be heading to Comic-Con 2012 this week, so stay tuned for updates on the upcoming season from San Diego.

Supernatural episode 8.3, "Heartache" stars Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles, Liane Balaban, Osric Chau, Melissa Dionisio, Nina Kiri, Ty Olsson and is directed by Robert Singer.
