Aaron Sorkin's new HBO pilot More as the Story Develops is closing in on female cast members Marisa Tomei, Olivia Munn, and Alison Pill. All three actresses are in negotiations, although it is said that Marisa Tomei is the closest to finalizing her deal.

Marisa Tomei will play the female lead, Mackenzie, an executive producer of a cable news show, which is anchored by Will McCallister (Jeff Daniels). Mackenzie is said to be completely devoted to her job, with everything else taking a back seat. Olivia Munn will play a financial analyst on the network, while Alison Pill will play an associate producer.

We reported last month that Greg Mottola (Paul, Superbad) will direct the pilot. Aaron Sorkin wrote the pilot script, which has shades of his past TV creations. The ABC series Sports Night took a look at the hectic environment of a sports cable news program, much like ESPN's SportsCenter. NBC's Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip went behind-the-scenes of a sketch comedy show, much like Saturday Night Live.

It isn't known when production will start on the pilot.

This would have been interesting with Tomei as Will's main love interest in the show. Hmmm..wonder why she passed?
