First Official Photo of Michael Rooker as Merle Dixon in The Walking Dead Season 3

Following the unofficial set photos from yesterday, today we have the first official look at Michael Rooker as Merle Dixon in The Walking Dead, currently filming Season 3 in Atlanta. Take a closer look at this volatile character, who is still alive after hacking off his own hand in Season 1.

It is believed that Merle has found refuge in the Woodbury survival settlement, run by The Governor (David Morrissey), although that story point has yet to be confirmed. The Walking Dead will return with Season 3 this October, during AMC's annual FearFest programming.
