Dexter Season 7 First Look at Dexter and Deb Facing Off

Dexter returns to Showtime with Season 7 on Sunday, September 30 at 9 PM ET with Episode 8.01: Are You...?. Today we have the first photo from this new season, that reveals Debra (Jennifer Carpenter) confronting her adopted brother Dexter (Michael C. Hall) in the aftermath of last season's shocking finale.

Season 7 kicks off directly after the Season 6 finale, where Debra witnessed her brother murdering Travis Marshall, a.k.a. the Doomsday Killer (Colin Hanks). Executive producer Scott Buck reveals that they don't shy away from Debra's big revelation.

"Viewers might think we shy away from that moment of Debra walking in and seeing Dexter stabbing into Travis' chest, but it's just the opposite. She now has to deal with what she's seen and what she knows. And it forces him to defend and define himself."

The producer also spoke about the irony of Debra's romantic feelings for her brother, and how those feelings are complicated after her big revelation.

"It's ironic that people are fine with Dexter jabbing people in the heart but mortified by this romance. We're not shying away from those feelings of hers, either."
