David Cross joins Modern Family for Season 3
Actor David Cross has signed on for a recurring role in Season 3 of the ABC comedy series Modern Family.

The actor will portray a city councilman in the series, who squares off against Julie Bowen's Claire. It isn't known how many episodes David Cross will appear in this season. David Cross most recently appeared on the small screen in a recurring role on Fox's Running Wilde.

Season 3 of Modern Family debuts with Episode 3.1: Phil on Wire, which airs on Wednesday, September 21 at 9 PM ET on ABC.

Modern Family episode 3.1, "Dude Ranch" stars Ed O'Neill, Sofía Vergara, Julie Bowen, Ty Burrell, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Eric Stonestreet, Sarah Hyland, Ariel Winter and is directed by Jason Winer.
