Franka Potente (The Bourne Identity, Run Lola Run) has signed on for a guest-starring arc on Season 2 of American Horror Story.

The actress will play a mysterious patient at the East Coast mental institution this new season is set in. She will appear in two episodes, although it isn't known when she will make her debut. She joins new cast members James Cromwell, Joseph Fiennes, Chloë Sevigny, Britne Oldford, Clea DuVall, Lizzie Brocheré, and Jenna Dewan-Tatum.

Season 1 actors Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Lily Rabe, and Zachary Quinto are also returning, although they will play completely different characters this time around.

The American Horror Story Season 2 Premiere will debut in October on FX.

American Horror Story episode 2.1, "Welcome to Briarcliff" stars Jenna Dewan-Tatum, Clea DuVall, Zachary Quinto, Evan Peters, Jessica Lange, Adam Levine, Chloƫ Sevigny, Joseph Fiennes and is directed by Bradley Buecker.
