NBC has picked up the first pilot to series for the 2012-2013 season, handing out a 13-episode order for Go On starring Matthew Perry.

The show centers on a sportscaster (Matthew Perry) who is forced to attend a mandatory support group after losing someone close to him. The man is surprised at how comforted he is by being in their presence.

Friends showrunner and executive producer Scott Silveri wrote the pilot episode, which was directed by Todd Holland. Karey Burke serves as executive producer alongside Scott Silveri and Todd Holland.

It is believed that this early move by NBC may force other networks to pick up some of their new pilots, in order to secure writing staffs.
